Sourcing words

Sourcing agentA company that finds factories and buys for clients abroad.
RequestWhat a client asks you to source: product, photos, quantity, target price.
RFQRequest for quotation: one request sent to many factories. Coming November 2026.
QuoteA factory’s price and terms for a request.
Costing sheetFrom factory price to delivered price, with your margin. Coming November 2026.
Client quotationYour price to the client, without factory cost. Coming November 2026.
MOQMinimum order quantity a factory accepts.
Lead timeHow long a factory needs to produce an order.
CommissionYou earn a percentage of the order value, invoiced to the client as a service fee.
MarkupYou buy from the factory and resell to the client at a higher price.
Factory rebateThe factory pays you a percentage of the order.
PIProforma invoice: the price document a client pays against. Coming November 2026.
POPurchase order to the factory. Coming November 2026.
Rebate debit noteThe document that claims a rebate from a factory. Coming November 2026.
QCQuality control: inspection with photos before shipment. Coming 2027.
CI / PLCommercial invoice and packing list for customs. Coming 2027.
SABERSaudi Arabia’s product certificate system. Checklists coming 2027.
ACIEgypt’s advance cargo information system. Checklists coming 2027.
IncotermsTrade terms such as FOB or CIF that say who pays for what in shipping.

Fixed priceThe price agreed for a written scope. Changes to the scope are priced before they start.
